Viking Amplifiers is the result of a genuine love for tube guitar amplifiers. Eric (the Viking) decided he needed to fulfill this desire by delving deeply into the inner workings of these wonderous boxes that made your guitar come to life in a way pre electric history never could.

After a number of amplifier repair/tweaking/modifying manuevers it was decided that the world required a new tube guitar amplifier. One that would sound as good, if not better than the rest, but also due to a history of back trauma from hauling heavy rigs to gigs he decided it needed to be light. The only problem with this is that tube amps at the time not only required heavy power transformers but equally heavy output transformers. Solid state amps didn't share this problem but Eric had never played thru a solid state amp that really made him want to play like he wanted to play.
So the solution was simple: design an all tube guitar amplifier that didn't need those heavy hunks of iron to operate. Eric was the inventive sort- making do with whatever he had to achieve his goals.
Flashback to 1969, he is 11 years old and is not that impressed with his old RCA clock radio's sound. After scrounging through debris left at a curbside, he uncovered a couple of 4x6 speakers someone has discarded. Score! It was soon realized that they didn't sound that great without cabinets after they were wired to his clock radio. He then noticed that if he covered up the back of the speaker with something soft like his pillow that they sounded much better. After looking around for a more suitable solution he noticed that the opening of a tissue box was roughly the same size as the speaker and with the right amount of tissues in the box the damping was just about right. A little tape and voila! A much better sound than previously heard before started him on an endless desire for better sound.
Fast forward to the new millenium and the design work on the first ever transformerless tube guitar amp has begun. Years of painstaking research and development later the Viking Conqueror is perfected. The amazing headroom and clarity is a benefit of the absence of power-wasting, tone-sucking transformers that cause unsatisfactory power delivery and parasitic oscillations in the output that cause unwanted distortions. Of course the design still enables you to generate a wide range of phenomenal overdriven and disorted sounds.
